Empress Acupuncture provides a variety of services related to acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. We provide women’s health acupuncture and specialty acupuncture for those undergoing assisted reproductive services (ART) such as IVF and IUI, as well as support for those using natural methods to conceive. We utilize Chinese nutritional therapy using food as medicine and additionally, provide individual-specific herbal formulations for cases that merit herbal support.

In order to accurately diagnose your case Empress Acupuncture stands out as the only center on the east coast to employ the thousands year old principles of Chinese facial diagnostics. Another facial service we provide is L.I.F.T. facial rejuvenation using acupuncture to build elastin and collagen in the face which reduces wrinkles and sagging. For those seeking a more integrated version of the above services we also offer R.E.M.I. energy healing. We carry a wide variety of teas, topical remedies and products to benefit your wellness.

Initial visit

Chinese medical evaluation and diagnosis, facial analysis, herbal prescription, eastern nutritional therapy, lifestyle recommendations and an acupuncture treatment.

Leave an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes for an initial visit.

Please have something to eat beforehand and wear loose fitting clothing that gives us access to elbows and knees.

Follow up acupuncture appointments are a way to evaluate your progress, trouble-shoot any difficulties in nutritional/herbal changes and continue care with the appropriate herbs and acupuncture according to the level of improvement exhibited.  

Many cases, especially severe, chronic or fertility related cases typically call for consistent acupuncture sessions at specific intervals.  

Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are natural therapies working with improving the state of the body via non-invasive means, therefore; results may require more time to reach a balanced state of wellbeing.

Certified/Physician/Medical Acupuncturist

 

  • Certified physician, chiropractor, dentist, physical therapist or medical acupuncturists with 100 - 300 hours of training

  • Training which is often comprised of home study
    and video-taped lectures

    actual patient treatments before certification

Licensed Acupunturist

Many Acupuncture and Oriental schools exceed 2000 hours. Colleges in California must meet a minimum required 3,000 hours in Oriental Medicine. 

Oriental medicine includes acupuncture, Chinese herbology and dietary therapy, tui na massage, tai qi and qi gong meditative exercises. 

Typically a Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc) whose primary training is in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and has:

a) Obtained a 3-4 year master’s level degree or diploma from a school approved by ACAOM (Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine)*, and

b) Has been board certified in Acupuncture or Oriental Medicine (Diplomate: Dipl Ac or Dipl OM) upon successful examination by the
NCCAOM (National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine), the national standard for licensing in most states.

Uses diagnosis and treatment techniques based on Oriental medical theory to treat a broad range of health conditions, including
chronic disease, internal medicine, pain, and disease prevention.

300 HOURS OR LESS

Typically a medical doctor, osteopath,naturopath or chiropractor who uses acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that medical doctors have 200
hours of training to know when to refer to a more fully-trained Acupuncturist or OrientalMedicine practitioner.**

Typically a chiropractor or detoxification technician

Detox Techs must be under the supervision of a Licensed Acupuncturist (LAc) and are limited to 5 point on the ear.

Used for pain management or addiction & detoxification through auricular acupuncture.
